The Carat is a single-seat motorglider with modified Discus wings, winglets, and a Discus tail. Itīs powered by a air-cooled four-stroke Sauer engine with 54hp. (Sauer S1800-1-ES 1C) A unique feature is the forward-folding propeller. The aircraft is equipped with an electro-hydraulic retractable landing gear and a tailwheel which is connected to the rudder.

The Carat is a true allrounder. Itīs a glider with clubclass performance and at the same time a touring motorglider with good cruising performance. Itīs easy to fly and highly reliable due to the four-stroke engine and the automatically folding propeller. The large cockpit is very comfortable, the baggage compartment behind the seat is big enough for camping gear. The aircraft can be trailered and rigged like a normal glider.

Noise emission is a mere 62,7dB, about as quiet as it can get. Still itīs not eligible for a unrestricted noise certificate in Germany due to itīs low 490kg MTOW. I know that might be hard to understand for my American friends...but thatīs aviation in Germany.
